Vincent Roy SANFORD, NC - Colonel Vincent Peter Roy, USAF (Ret.) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colonel Vincent Peter Roy, USAF (Ret.) on November 27, 2024 at the age of 93. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Vince was born on March 19, 1931 in Connecticut. He was raised by the late Isabelle (Betty) Falco Geragosian and Michael (Buzzy) Geragosian, Sr. He attended Fordham University before transferring to Louisiana State University (LSU) to play football and major in political science. While attending LSU, he met the love of his life, Fran. Vince served his country with distinction with an exceptional career in the United States Air Force (USAF). He served as a fighter pilot in several conflicts, earned numerous accolades including acceptance into the USAF Fighter Weapons School, a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma where he earned his Master's in Business Administration (MBA), and an invitation to attend the National War College. Vince rose to the rank of Colonel as a decorated war hero. His stories of his time in the Air Force were truly captivating. Following his military career, Vince pursued several business ventures in the DC area before moving to North Carolina, where he was a devoted member of the St. Stephen the First Martyr Church in Sanford NC. He was deeply committed to supporting his church through service and generosity. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, rising to Grand Knight, sponsored several of the stunning stained glass windows in the new church building, and supported countless coffee hours, among many other lasting contributions. Vince was an avid golfer and enjoyed "friendly" games on the courses nearby. He was an incredibly loyal friend and could be found most Mondays with his ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) group, seeking out the best burger around. He was also dedicated to animal welfare, actively improving the lives of the cats and ducks in the neighborhood. Above all, Vince took immense pride in his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Irene Kennedy Roy, son, Christopher Roy, and son-in-law, John Coons. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Vincent (Dusty) and Heidi Roy, daughter, Lori Roy, daughter-in-law, Joanne Roy, brother, Michael Geragosian, sister, Pat Ullom, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 12:00pm at St. Stephen the First Martyr Church, Sanford NC. Vince will be remembered for his devotion to family and faith, service to his country, commitment to his friends, and compassion for animals. Rest in peace, Colonel.
