Vilma Karst Obituary

Vilma Rose Blanton Karst "Boo Boo" CHARLESTON - Vilma (Boo Boo) Rose Blanton Karst, 83, a resident of White Oak Manor, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at a local hospital. Boo was born March 27, 1927, in Charleston, the daughter of Marion James Blanton and Mary Esther Blackshields Blanton. She attended Memminger School and was a Roman Catholic. Boo was an avid gardener and walker. She tread many miles on the roads in Riverland Terrace. Boo never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. She touched many hearts along the way. Boo will be best remembered for her fierce independence, sense of humor and personal strength. Boo is survived by five children: Karl "Fred" Karst and his wife, Carmen, of Cottageville; Ron Karst and his wife, Cynthia, of James Island; Debra Farr of James Island; Stacy Miner and her husband, Scott, of Irmo, SC; and Bonnie Ciuffo and her husband, Tony, of James Island; seven beloved grandchildren: Dustin Karst, Brittan Farr, Lauren Karst, Ryan Karst, Carolyn Miner, Scottie Miner , and Layne Searson; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Karl Frederick Karst, Jr. and son, Stephen Eric Karst. Boo led a simple, modest, private life. As such, it was her wish that funeral services and burial be private. Her family will honor her request. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that contributions are made in Boo's memory to The Alzheimer's Association - South Carolina Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
