Vilhelm Rasmussen Obituary

RASMUSSEN, Vilhelm Entered into eternal rest, Vilhelm Heinrich (William) Rasmussen, Jr., 84 of Charleston, on the evening of Sunday, April 16, 2006 at a local health care facility. The family invites friends to join them at the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 o'clock noon, Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Ashley. Inurnment will follow in the family plot at Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Rasmussen was born in Charleston on September 18, 1921 son of the late Vilhelm H. Rasmussen, Sr. and Florence V. Jackson Rasmussen. A graduate of Murray High School, he earned his degree in electrical engineering while at the Charleston Naval Shipyard during World War II. He remained at CNY and retired after 41 years of service. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Solomon's Masonic Lodge #1 in Charleston. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Francis Bernadine Reynolds Rasmussen; two daughters, Katherine M. Libby of Monroe, NC and Amelia (Mandy) A. Hershberger and her husband, Wayne J., of Kingsland, GA; four sons, Vilhelm H. (Bill) Rasmussen III and his wife, Carol, of Greeneville, TN, Christopher A. Rasmussen and his wife, Janet, of Cambridge, MN, Karl P. Rasmussen and his wife Amanda of North Charleston, and Timothy J.C. Rasmussen also of North Charleston. In addition, fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Emelia A. Rasmussen of Staten Island, NY, two sisters-in-law, Mary Reynolds Herrera of Florence, SC and Effie Reynolds Diaz of McAllen, TX, many nieces and nephews also survive.
