Vernelle Zielensky Obituary

Vernelle Grimes Zielensky WALTERBORO - Mrs. Vernelle Grimes Zielensky, wife of the late Adam Zielensky, entered into eternal rest, Sunday morning, at Heritage Health Care Center, in Walterboro. She was 84. Mrs. Zielensky was born in Colleton County, October 26, 1924, a daughter of the late William Henry Grimes and Docia Lyons Grimes of Smoaks. She was a former Librarian with Chicora Elementary School, Brentwood Middle School, and Goodwin Elementary School in Charleston. "Vern" was a loving mother and grandmother, a Sunday School teacher at Creekside Advent Christian Church, and a friend to one and all. She loved to cook, chat on the phone, take long walks, and meet new people. She often took meals from her kitchen to families in need. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Shealy Hiott, and husband Dr. David Hiott, of Walterboro, and by her sons, Kenneth W. Shealy, and wife Ann Drew Shealy, of Panama City, FL, and Stanley Murray Shealy, and wife Janice Rister Shealy, of Little Mountain, SC. There are eight grandchildren: David Walter Hiott, M.D., of Charleston, Henry Plant Hiott and Matthew Weston Hiott, of Walterboro, Adam Langdon Shealy, of Flat Rock, NC, Marianne Dobbs, of Panama City, FL, Teresa Shealy and Kerry S. Stribble, of Little Mountain, and Evan Murray Shealy, currently serving with the United States Air Force. There are eight great-grandchildren: Allie, Carlisle, and Hagan Hiott, Lauren and Kenan Dobbs, Langdon Shealy, Katie Hiott, and Collin Stribble. Mrs. Zielensky was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Berry, Inez Goethe, and Marjorie Provost, and by a brother Charles Wilson Grimes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, at 10:00, in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with Rev. Tina Sweet officiating. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
