Vernell Closson CROSS, SC - Vernell "Pete" Weeks Closson, 85, of Cross, SC, died Thursday, August 9, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC, NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. "Pete" was born January 9, 1927 in St. George, SC, daughter of the late James Walter Weeks and the late Lillian Catherine Weeks. Mrs. Closson was a former member of First Baptist Church of Goose Creek where she was a member of the Silver Threads Senior Group and Lydia Sunday School Class. She is currently a member of Sandridge First Baptist Church, Ridgeville, SC. She was a retired cook from Goose Creek High School. She is survived by her sons: James H. Closson of Cross, SC, Charles E. (Robin) Closson of Ladson, SC and George W. (Debbie) Closson of Goose Creek, SC; four grandchildren: Robbie, Sabrina, Ashley and Amber; great grandchildren: Savannah Bryn, Gracelyn Robin, and Coltyn Robert on the way; nieces, Lillian Tisdale of Savannah, GA, and Gail Tramel of Jackson, MS. She was preceded in death by a son, William L. Closson; stepmother, Thelma P. Weeks; and granddaughter, Melissa Closson.
