The Nelson Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time. When I think about Verna, good thoughts of past years in the Cross High Band and our family ties in growing up as children of teachers, this was indeed a blessing to have known her. Although it hurts to let her go, God has taken her to a better place. Though it is hard, Verna has no more hurt or pain. You all are in our prayers,

The Smalls Family

I met Verna about 15 years and what a joy she was. I remember Verna as "loving life" and embracing each day with love and appreciation and that's the way I choose to remember her. To the family hold on to the memories they will substain you during your time of sorrow.

I have only the fondest memories of Verna as a classmate and friend. She was a confidante of mine with a kind heart that God created in her Mother's image. Our prayers are with the family as we share the sadness in the loss of a truly wonderful person.

I am so saddened by the news of
Verna's passing. Verna was a kind hearted, free spirited woman who was always willing to lend a listening ear and always kept me in line. I will remember her smile and her soft spoken words ( I don't think that I ever heard her raise her voice)! I know she will be proud to know that I'm still keeping JT from the water fountain that used to be in Nina's shop! To the family; stay strong and always remember that God doesn't put any more on us than what we can bear. I love you guys always and will miss you Verna til we meet again.

Saddened to learn of Verna's death. I had just spoken to her and Nina during the Christmas' holidays as they were shopping at Walmart. She was tending to Nina who had foot surgery. It was truly a pleasure to have attended school with her and to have known as a very sweet person. God keep the family during these sad times.

If I had to give a description of her it would be; Sweet Spirited: To the family, this is truly a loss, God's plans are not always our plans, continue to be blessed in the Lord and He will see you through.
