Velma Edwards "Aunt Bo" Strickland FLORENCE, SC - Velma Edwards "Aunt Bo" Strickland, 71, of Florence, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the McLeod Hospice House after an illness. "Aunt Bo" was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Harmon W. and Sallie Miller Edwards. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are 2 daughters; Debbie (Fred) Yandle of Newberry and Vickie (Ronnie) Carrigg of Florence;her son, Mike (Melissa) Jordan of Florence; 4 grandchildren; Barrett and Cameron Kittrell, Mason Mixon and Madison Carrigg; 3 great-grandchildren, Claire Kittrell, Liberty Stone and Rylee Strong; sister, Molly E. (Earl) Nobles, special nieces and nephews; Wayne Nobles, Phyllis Batts, Kay Nobles, and Dennis Nobles and his family who so loved and cared for "Aunt Bo" during her time of need; step-children; Susan (Owen) Bolin, Eddie Strickland and Myra Strickland; step-grandchildren, Matthew Bolin and Susanna Lambert, and step great-grandchildren, Hanna, Joe, Jack and Jesse Lambert, and a special family friend, Melvin Fogle. In addition to her parents and husband, Roy E. Strickland, she was preceded in death by 2 granddaughters, Casey Kittrell and Jordan Carrigg, and by a sister, Christine E. Jacobs. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Monday, April 16, 2012 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A private burial will be held later in the Amaker, Jeffcoat and Hair Family Cemetery in North, S.C. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
