Valerie Sue Mottern Knies Ladson - Valerie Sue Mottern Knies, 63, wife of Robert V. Knies, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 16, 2021. Sue was born in Roanoke, VA, on Tuesday, November 12, 1957. She is the daughter of Lewis N. Mottern and the late Lucille J. Mottern. Sue had many different jobs over the years and was an amazing provider for her two children. She loved going to the beach, being outdoors, playing in her garden, going on cruises with her husband, her animals and spending time with her two granddaughters. Sue had a tremendous heart and would always be there to help you if you needed it. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille, and her son, Paul Lewis Moran. Sue is survived by her husband, Robert V. "Bob" Knies; her daughter, Ashley M. Yates (Stewart); her father, Lewis N. Mottern; her brother, Richard H. Mottern; and her granddaughters, Isabella and Olivia Yates. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Knies are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Sue will be laid to rest next to her son, Paul, at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island following the service.
