Valerie Gaddy Obituary

I had the pleasure of working with Valerie and she was a delightful, funny and sweet indiidual. She will be greatly missed by faculty and students.

Ms. Gaddy I'm so sorry to hear about your passing. You were one of the bright spots of my time at HHS. I will miss you dearly.

Mr. & Mrs. Gaddy, Cajun and Family:
I can still remember Valerie's beautiful smile the first day she walked into SFM and there was not a time after then that she did not have that same beautitful smile on her face. She was truely a wonderful teacher and role model to her students. As well as a great friend. I am very sadden and shocked by her untimely passing. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Truly a gem! I was fortunate enough to have miss Gaddy as my freshman and sophomore Algebra teacher...she always had a beautiful smiling face and she was always in sweet spirit. My love goes with her as my heart is saddened. Hanahan will not be the same without her.

They say that "laughter is good for the soul" and that means that Valerie lifted a lot of souls during her time on this Earth...me included! When I think of Valerie, it will always be with a gigantic smile on her face and that beautiful, warm southern drawl saying something funny and making me and anyone else within hearing distance laugh and enjoy being around her. I was one of Ms. Gaddy's 7th grade algebra students at Sedgefield Middle School in 1994-95. She made learning fun, and worked very hard to help me when I struggled -- which made her one of my favorite teachers. I am sorry to hear of her passing, and my prayers are with all of her loved ones.

Ms. Gaddy was one of my favorite teachers, so many years ago. My condolences to the entire family. She was a great teacher, a great person. Will not be forgotten.

Ms. Gaddy was the best Algebra teacher ever. She made sure I understood and worked hard with all her students. She was fun and never cease to make me smile. Even though I only had her as a Freshmen. I'd still come along the Freshmen hall and to see her. She'd ask me why I'm "bothering" her and using the freshmen snack machine. And yet still asking to buy a pencil from her and compared Clemson and Carolina with her. She was very funny and will be missed very much.

To the Gaddy family,Ms.Gaddy taught my son Jalen his freshmen year.Ms.Gaddy was a very good teacher a real kind heart person.I am very sorry to hear of her death.The Lockwood family will keep you all in our prayers.

Ms. Gaddy taught my son Hunter this school year. She was a wonderful teacher, offered help and advice when it was needed. Hunter always spoke of her and how much he enjoyed math this year. She was so funny, a wonderful smile and it was fun to talk about the clemson/ Carolina games with her. She was fun to watch at the St. Joe's games with her cup in hand and her proud smile watching you play the game you love so much. Even though I really didn't know Ms. Gaddy, I could tell she was an amazing person. It was always so nice seeing a smiling face coming down the hallway. She will truely be missed by so many at Hanahan. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.

Words cannot express my heart felt sympathy for you. I have several good memories of Valerie. She would come visit me, and one time the two of you were out of town and she dislocated her shoulder at the pool. I took her to the ER in Dillon and the little buger "passed out" on me....scared the wits out of me. And of course, I'll never forget her trip to New York and riding in a cab and calling the handles in the roof of the car "oh >>>>handles. And most of all, those pretty big eyes and that contagious smile and laugh. I have always loved that precious "little girl".

I did not know her personally, but she and Pam were best friends of my daughter in Mt.Pleasant,(Linda Allen)along with my son Bobby Silvey who lost his 2yr battle with leukemia on 9/17/10. She kept in touch with him along with my daughter Linda, talked to him very often and visited him also at MUSC.I am sure they are in heaven together now at peace, no more suffering and talking about their nites out eating and having fun. Both of my boy's were blessed to have Ms. Gaddy for Geometry at HHS. My oldest son is now at Clemson and is quick to tell of the influence Ms. Gaddy had on his Clemson decision and his life at HHS. Wow. Still so shocked that you slipped away form us so soon. My heart was so heavy but now I am starting to understand. You are in a better place. U made an "ULTIMATE" difference in my life (especially when you took my brothers under your wing after I graduated). I had the distinct honor of teaching with Valerie in the Academy for the last 5 years. She always had a ready smile and would help out anyone in need. I am blessed to be able to call her a friend and even more blessed that she also considered me a friend. Or her walking into my room and just shaking her head at my desk, seeing as it was never as organzied as hers. I only knew Valerie for a short time, but I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to meet her. She was always such a pleasure to talk to and I really enjoyed her sense of humor.
