Ursula Kaiser Obituary

KAISER, Ursula Ursula Vincent Salvo Kaiser, 76, of Mount Pleasant, the widow of Robert Lee Kaiser, died peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Kaiser was born May 29, 1931 in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late Victor Albert Salvo and Ursula Marie Chicco. She was raised by her stepmother, Duma from the age of five after the death of her mother. She was a graduate of Ashley Hall, where she was an active alumna, and a recipient of the Dewar Gordon Holmes Distinguished Alumna Award. She was graduated from St. Genevieve of the Pines College in Asheville, NC. After her children were grown, she worked at the Charleston County Voter Registration Office where she was the Absentee Precinct Manager for many years. She was actively involved on the Board for Mental Retardation, and was instrumental in getting special education classes started in the Mt. Pleasant area in the early 1960's. As a member of OLOPS , Our Lady of Prompt Succor, she enjoyed being with her friends. Additionally she devoted much of her time to helping others and was an active member of Christ Our King Catholic Church where she participated in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Lazarus committee. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are five children, Robert L. Kaiser, Jr., Vincent P. Kaiser and his wife Jan, Ursula K. Ferguson and her husband Michael, Jane K. Clarkin and her husband Frank, all of Mt. Pleasant. Ann Marie K. Forsberg and her husband Dennis of James Island; eight grandchildren including Natalie C. Forsberg, C. Elise Forsberg of James Island, Amanda J. Kaiser, Vincent C. Kaiser, Joseph M. Kaiser, Thomas A. Ferguson, R. Patrick Clarkin and Lauren U. Clarkin of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters Lorraine S. Leitch of Mt. Pleasant, Nancy S. Kruger and her husband Louis of Isle of Palms. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary S. Utsey and her only brother Victor A. Salvo. The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1520 Rifle Range Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately after the Rosary until 8:00 PM. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Ursula Kaiser are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
