Tommie Eugene Cumbee AWENDAW - Tommie Eugene Cumbee, 73, of Awendaw, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 17, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service in Wrens Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service Sunday starting at 10:00 am in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Tommie was born May 18, 1950 in McClellanville, South Carolina, son of the late Jervey Cumbee and Lizzie Goins Cumbee. He loved everything about the lowcountry. Tommie worked as a QA Inspector in the shipyard, but you could always find him fishing, working on cars and lawnmowers, gardening or cooking. He will be remembered for his friendships and the way he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Tommie Cumbee, Jr. of Awendaw, SC and Tabitha Britt of Davenport, FL; three grandchildren, Maya Cumbee, Zachary Cumbee, and Landon Britt; girlfriend, Debora Avinger and sibling, Kenneth Cumbee (Effie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Rose Martin Cumbee, and siblings, Cecil Cumbee, Leroy Cumbee, Ervin Cumbee, Edward Cumbee, James Cumbee and Jervey Cumbee.
