Timothy Singleton Obituary

Timothy Singleton Charleston - Tim Aaron Singleton passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the age of 62 at his home in Charleston, SC. Born of Virginia and Ervin Singleton on March 23, 1958, Tim was an enthusiastic student of life. He loved to travel and never met a stranger, choosing instead to engage in meaningful dialogue whenever possible. Music was a passion (the blues and reggae were favorites) and he enjoyed riding his bike and reading thought-provoking books. After graduating from Fort Johnson High School on James Island in 1976, Tim went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina. He was a four-year letterman in football at USC as a linebacker and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1980. A pivot in life led to a successful 25-year career as a State Farm Insurance Claims Adjuster and Claims Manager. Tim served as an elder at Crosstowne Church for 10 years. Tim leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Faith, son and close friend, Stone, father, Ervin Singleton, sister, Hope Michelle Singleton, three brothers, Gerald, Jerry (Catina), and Randy Singleton, nieces, Brittany, Quintessa, and Miracle, nephew, Xavier, grandniece, Riley and many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm (noon) on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Crosstowne Church at 1941 Bees Ferry Road in West Ashley. The service will also be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page (@crosstownechristian church) and YouTube channel (Crosstowne Church). In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tim Singleton's name to the Sarcoma Society of America. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted online at www.mcalister-smith.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414, (843) 722-8371. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

A Brother in deed; is my friend ; I know he still lives. Because I know as long as I remember Tim; He is still alive. He cannot come to me nor can i to him not now. But I know my place on earth is just temporary, for the years behind me are much greater than the years ahead of me. I hope to see my brother some day soon, but as long as I keep in my memory, I know he is around . So Tim until we meet and have that handshake; for now I will say goodbye but I hope to see you again in the Blissful, place where there is no more sorrow, and our LORD and SAvior is King! Miss you Bro! Looking forward to see you around the throne , with whole lot others also1

I was so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him while we were classmates for two semesters at TTC in 2015. I remember Tim as a gentle giant who always greeted you with a warm smile and a kind word. Through our many interesting conversations about life, our families, growing up in Charleston, and just about anything and everything, it was clear to me that Tim’s family was always at the forefront of his thoughts, and he spoke of them often, especially his wife, Faith, and son, Stone. He was so proud of their accomplishments, including Stone’s acceptance into the respiratory therapy program and Faith’s prestigious award she received from St. Francis Hospital where she worked as a wound care nurse. Tim left a huge, positive impression on me, and I will never forget the laughs and good talks we had. Tim was bright, articulate, and so easy to talk to. He was also a great listener, as well, offering his advice if he felt it might help you in some way. Even though I knew him for a short while, I considered Tim a friend, and I think he felt the same. I feel lucky to have known him.

My thoughts and heartfelt sympathy go out to Tim’s wife and son and the entire Singleton family.

I am deeply sorry to learn of Tim's passing. Although it has been years simce I've seen Tim, I remember vividly the lessons he taught that applied so well to college and life. "Take no plays off" is my favorite- especially when I'd want to quit. To the Singleton family, know that I mourn with you in this difficult time. I pray for God to comfort and keep you.
