Timothy Krieger Obituary

KRIEGER, Timothy The exuberant spirit of Timothy Robert Krieger took flight from outside of Charleston, South Carolina on the 21st day of January, 2009. Tim was 53 years old and had been fighting a courageous battle with cancer for two years. Affectionately known to dozens of people around the country as "Hippie Tim," Tim was the type of personality that never met a stranger. His vibrant enthusiasm and genuine warmth gave Tim an endearing quality that was impossible to ignore. Tim was a quintessential practitioner of carpe diem; he got as much out of each day as the laws of nature would allow. Tim's overwhelming joy in life was watching the performance of live music. He had an encyclopedic mind when it came to music. Tim was an ardent fan of the Grateful Dead, witnessing over 200 shows spanning three decades. Tim was born in Saint Joseph, Michigan on July 10 1955 to Elinor (Robbins) Krieger and Alfred Krieger. Tim attended Saint Joseph Public Schools until 1975 when he moved to California for several years. He returned to Michigan in 1988 and lived there until 2003 when he ventured to Charleston, South Carolina. Tim touched lives from the San Francisco Bay to Folly Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. He will be deeply missed by those who he shared a wealth of memories with him. As Tim would say "Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile." Tim is survived by his mother, Elinor Carrier of South Haven; his brother, John Krieger of Saint Joseph; his sister, Carol Hosier of South Haven; nephew, Troy (Laura) Krieger of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and two nieces that he was especially fond of, Tonya (Tracy) Plumb of Grand Prairie, Texas and Tatia (Stanley) Schneider of Eau Claire. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Krieger and his stepfather, Joseph Carrier. There will be memorial services held in Saint Joseph and in Charleston in the near future. Tim was "My Hippie" and " My Uncle Tim". I don't think Tim ever had an enemy, I think God sent him here to bring some peace into this world. He was one of the best friends you could ever have. He is at peace now and pain free. I will miss you and love you forever My Hippie.
