Thomas "Tom" Eugene White ISLE OF PALMS - If you knew Tom White, you knew a man who lived a great life and on his own terms. He was 77 years old when he passed on February 3, 2025, and while his absence leaves an unfillable space, his stories, jokes, and one-of-a-kind presence will live on. Born in St. Louis, MO, Tom made Isle of Palms, SC, his home for over 50 years. A Vietnam vet, he built and ran two successful businesses before deciding he'd much rather spend his days doing what he loved - hunting, laughing with family, and presiding over Family Day at the Shingler Hunt Club, where his word as judge was final (even if a little questionable at times). Opening day was sacred, and missing it was simply not an option...no matter the bugs and heat. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Jane White, and his siblings, Arthur White, Richard White, Elizabeth Scull, and Adrienne Dimond. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Sanders, her husband, Chris, and his two grandchildren, Anna and Chase, who quickly learned that their granddad was just a big kid himself, always up for chocolate, Nerf gun battles, and boxing glove brawls. He also leaves behind a crew of beloved nieces, nephews, and close family friends who will forever hear his laugh and have no shortage of stories to pass down. But perhaps Tom's greatest passion, aside from time in the woods, was spending time with his "best bud" Kathleen. Their father-daughter dates were legendary, their inside jokes too many to count, and their bond unshakable. That circle of love grew to include Chris, Anna, and Chase, who he adored with his whole heart. A Celebration of Life will be held in March, where there will undoubtedly be great stories, great company, and a well-earned toast in his honor.
