Thomas Parrish Obituary

PARRISH, Thomas Martin - Of Flint, age 63, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his residence. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. Kenneth Sharp will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday and noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Thomas was born in Flint, Michigan on March 11, 1946, the son of Thomas and Jean (Hansen) Parrish. He graduated from Flushing High School where he was in the band. Thomas had a rock band called the "Outcasts" and was a local disc jockey. He was an electronic communications specialist in the United States Air Force in Germany. After receiving his 1st class commercial radio operator license , he worked for WAMM and WDZZ radio stations and WJRT TV before working and retiring from the GM Truck Plant, where he was known as "Drak." His "Draktracks" (45's and CD's) included "Line One Motor Shake" and "The Shop Rat Blues." Tom was a gentle giant; intelligent, honest, kind and good. He was loved and will be missed. He is survived by: father, Thomas Parrish of Flushing; sisters, Bonnie (Les) Nuckols of Oregon, Susan (John) Sullivan of Clio and Janet Johnson of Flint. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Parrish.
