I moved to Charleston in April 1973 to be the manager of Hertz Truck Rental. Tom was the rental manager at that time and continued in that job as long as I was in Charleston through July 1976. Tom, Vicky Cynthia (my then wife) and I became very close friends. Over the 3 years or so that we were in Charleston, our friendship grew very, very close. When I relocated to Jackson MS, our friendship continued to grow long distance. Over the years since moving, I have visited Charleston 6-8 times managing to see Tom each trip - sometimes he was the reason for my trip. We even vacationed together in New Orleans and had a great New Orleans time. We talked 6-8 times a year or more and each call started with "Let's Visit" I forget where that came from but it was the start of every conversation. Losing Tom has hit me very hard. I consider him to be one of my best friends ever and I will never forget him. he was that kind of guy. I love he and Vicky and am so glad that she came back into his life when he really needed her. Thank you Vicky. For me to say I am heartbroken is an understatement. Vicky will now become my Tom and the continuity will still be there. God Bless you Tom Ott!

We're so sorry for your loss. Mr. Tom will be missed that's for sure. He was a good man and friend. We learned a lot from him. He may not be beside us but he will be in our hearts forever. Rest In Peace Mr. Tom until we meet again. Love Kenny and Faye
