Thomas McCants Obituary

McCANTS, Thomas KINGSTREE - Thomas Edward McCants, 70, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at his residence after an illness. Mr. McCants was born February 14, 1936 in Williamsburg County; a son of the late Walter Leslie and Kathleen Easier McCants. He was a graduate of Greeleyville High School and was a retired automobile salesman. Mr. McCants was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church and the Men's Club of the Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching auto racing. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold McCants and two sisters, Grace Hardy and Betty Smith. Survivors include one son, Thomas E. McCants, Jr. of Kingstree; one daughter, Leslie Ortez of Dallas, TX; one brother, Carol McCants of Kingstree; four sisters, Pauline Lowder and Dorothy Floyd both of Manning, Elease Radcliffe of St. Stephen and Patricia Conyers of Kingstree; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a special friend, Elaine Hatcher of Kingstree. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Vernon Deese. Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Carol, was sorry to hear about Mr. Tommy. You and the rest of the family will be in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord give you all the strength that you need in this time of sorrow. Mr. Carol, I used to work for you at the EMS in Hemingway.
