Alvin was my youngest brother-in-law. He was thirteen when I joined the Jones family. Just a kid, but a talented one. His drawings were superb. I use to tell him Alvin, you could be an artist when you grow up. We hit it off immediately. He was a good kid. God bless you, Alvin. Your sister-in-law, Annette Jones

I was familiar with the name Alvin Jones before I got out of high school but didn't meet him until I got out of BCD Tech and moved into 217A Calhoun St. We became close friends and he later was best man at my wedding. While talking about school one day we discovered that we were in second grade together at Ben Tillman elementary. He was that friend that I could always count on night or day, rain or shine. Alvin was very good at everything he tried and loved most sports, especially baseball, golf and tennis. He was also a very good photographer and I have many memories documented in his photos. Born on Friday, May 13, 1949 he was the youngest of his mother's children and the one that took care of her in her last years. Rest in peace my friend of 50 plus years, I will miss you.

Alvin, I remember meeting you through friends when I attended Baptist College. I was sorry that we were unable to see you at the luncheon a few months back. One thing you and I had in common was taking care of our parents. I remember you calling to see how I was doing. I remember you talking about your tents for events and sign painting business. You were happy that it was doing well. I remember the baseball games and horse races. You were a good man and full of humor. You are with the Lord now and you can rest in peace my dear friend.

Alvin was my uncle; he took care of his mother (my grandmother) in her last years.
He and I use to cut-up and laugh a lot together. We used to go to Ryans and Shoney's to eat, he enjoyed the buffets. When Alvin was younger, he could have been a professional golfer or a professional tennis player. We played a lot of golf together and he taught me the game. He was actually a very good instructor as well. He was also a great artist; he could draw anything. He had an entrepreneurial spirit his whole life. He had a very successful sign painting business, a window tinting business and a canopy tent business. I helped Alvin tint windows at his shop and we set-up a lot of tents together. There was a lot of good in Alvin. He had his faults and his regrets just like all of us do. It is a shame he ended up alone at the end of his life with very little family around. But sometimes that is the way it turns out for some of us. Rest easy, old friend. ~Randy R. Jones

Rest in peace Alvin. So sorry we didn't all get to see you in Bonneau a few months back when many of us from back in the day had the luncheon. We were looking forward to seeing you. Fondly,
Teresa
