I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Jay's death. Stephanie, I enjoyed our talk going over to Daufuskie on the ferry one day and learned so many nice things about you, your daughter, and Jay. I know both you and your daughter will still have many wonderful memories about your lives with Jay but it will hard to adjust to life without him. He loved you both so much. I was quite shocked to hear of Jay's passing. He was so full of life that I couldn't imagine anything stopping him. A very kind heart and a keen intellect were just two of his many fine qualities. I already miss our e-mails and conversations. My condolences go out to Stephanie, Cinnie and his family. May you all feel a peace that only God can provide at this time. Seek comfort and it will be found. I know Jay is smiling down on us all from his heavenly abode.

Jay was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, he just made all things seem possible. With all the love in the world and heart felt sympathy for my sister Stephanie, Cinnie and ALL of Jay's family, never forget the memories.

I don't think Jay really ever had to work a day in his life. Jay had such a passion for life that he truely enjoyed what he was doing every minute of the day, whether that be at work or play. Daufuskie will truely miss you Jay.

With sincere sympathy to all of Jay's family and friends, especially his wife Stephanie and daughter Cinnie. He always spoke of you with love in his eyes. We will all miss his mile-wide smile. Jay lives on in all his projects. We see him in his "alligator lights" here at Sandy Lane, Daufuskie Island as this is typed...thanks Jay.

Jay lived life on his terms. Anyone who knew him, respected his extreme passion and enthusiasm towards all people, interests, and ideologies he pursued. He was truely the most brilliant person that I have ever known. I will miss his lively banter and zest for life.
My heartfelt sympathy to Jay's wife Stephanie and her family. And my heart aches for my best friend Stephanie, and she and Jay's sweet little daughter Cinnie. Hopefully, Cinnie will always remember that she was truely Daddy's little girl and the apple of his eye.
Go in peace Jay.
