Thomas Igoe Obituary

IGOE, Thomas Mr. Thomas Scott Igoe, age 25, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Donna Yerby Streyffeler and Kenneth Robertson, of Summerville, passed away in the afternoon hours of Saturday, August 30, 2008. Friends and family of Scotty Igoe are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00 am at CAROLINA MEMORIAN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park. A visitation will be held this evening, Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Scott Igoe was born on August 15, 1983 in Charleston, SC to Mr. Thomas Francis Igoe and Mrs. Donna Yerby Streyffeler. He graduated from Fort Dorchester High School in 2001 and attended Trident Technical College in North Charleston. He worked as an ASE certified automotive technician at McElveen in Summerville for over four years. He adored his family, his fiancé, Candice; his friends and his beloved Labrador Retrievers, Rosco and Harley. He had a passion for the open road, which he indulged by riding his motorcycle as much as he could. He was a wonderful son, fiancé, grandson, brother, uncle and friend. The loss of this great man has created deep heart felt sadness in all persons who knew him. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William and Donna Yerby Streyffeler and Kenneth Robertson, all of Summerville; his fiancé, Candice Traver; two sisters, Dawn Igoe Wallace and Kristina Igoe Waltz; a step-sister, Jenny Waltz; a step-brother, Chad Streyffeler; grandparents, Benjamin Marler Yerby, Jr., Thelma Nolan of Summerville, and Beverly Vowell of Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Scotty has begun a new journey walking in heaven with angels in the presence of his grandparents: the late Lois Hazel Yerby, the late Jimmie Nolan, the late Mr. James Roger Igoe, and Mrs. Juanita Greenhill Igoe. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home. Online memorial can be made at www.carolinamemorial.com. Dear Donna and Family:
We just heard today about your devistating loss. As neighbors we shared very special memories of Scotty. Scotty was a very special
young man. We remember him pushing Kenny in the Little Tykes beep beep car. He and Kenny were
special friends . Our prayers go out to you and your family.

I remember playing/trading/polishing matchbox cars for hours with Scotty when we were boys. He was always a good friend and will always be remembered as part of our family. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of such a great person and wish only the best for Mrs. Donna and Dawn and Christina (my other big sisters).

Donna, Bill, Dawn, Kristina, and Ken:

I can't even begin to say how sorry I am. There are no words that can even begin to express how I feel. I had not seen Scotty since he was a child but I do know how a mother loves her children. Donna, you always put your children first and for that, you should know you did the right thing for them and for you. I don't know how you feel so I won't say I do but I do know that he was chosen for a reason-none of which any of us are suppose to understand. I have thought about all of you so much since the accident. One thing I do know, Scotty was loved by so many people; he probably was not aware of how many friends he truly had. It was very evident by the presence of everyone that showed their respects at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.

Know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Scotty - It's hard to believe it's been a week already. I keep waiting for someone to wake me up and tell me that it's been a really bad dream. You touched so many lives in the short time you were here. I remember when your mom & Kenny were married. You must have been about 3 or 4. You always use to draw me pictures and tell everyone that I was your "girlfriend". And whenever your grandma put cucumbers out. Boy did we use to fight over who was going to get the last one!!! There are so many other good memories that you have left with me. There is one about a horse that I remember. I won't go into details, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Please help each and everyone of us deal with this and move on. You will be dearly missed by everyone!!

Until we meet again!!
I love and miss you,

Aunt Kim

Scotty - I can't help but remember the first time you came to my house and I talked you into tasing squash. From then on everytime you came over you asked for it and I loved fixing it just for you. I would send some to you up in Heaven if I could. I don't know who's going to eat it with me now!! Or if I'll ever be able to eat squash again. I promise that when we meet again, I'll fix you the best squash you have ever tasted!! I sure do miss you.

Love,
Grandma Nolan

Dear Donna, Bill and family,
We were terribly saddened to learn of
the loss of Scotty. We have fond memories of a very inquisitive, good
natured, thoughtful and friendly
neighbor who never met a stranger.
We would see Scotty from time to
time and always enjoyed reminiscing
of the times when he lived next door
to us in Briarwood. We will miss him.

I only met Scott a couple of weeks ago as he visited friends at Lake Murray. Only one day swimming in the lake and talking about his dogs Rosco and Harley. A truly outstanding and impressionable young man who I know will be deeply missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and his fiance. May your fondest memories be forever embedded in your heart where we know Scott still lives today. God Bless.

SCOTTY WAS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS. WE GREW UP TOGETHER AND WERE MORE LIKE FAMILY THEN ANYTHING. EVER SINCE WE WERE KIDS SCOTTY HAD THIS WAY ABOUT HIM THAT WOULD MAKE YOU LAUGH EVEN WHEN YOU DIDN'T FEEL LIKE LAUGHING. I WILL MISS YOU SCOTT AND I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE TIMES WE SPENT TOGETHER. TO THE FAMILY OF SCOTT YOU KNEW HOW CLOSE SCOTT WAS TO ALL OF US AND IF THERE IS EVER ANYTHING I CAN DO. In Memory of Rhonda

Once in a garden
A small seed grew.
If only we'd known
That time was so few.
Sunshine and rain
Changed the seed to a flower.
Time was running out,
Hour by hour.
The flower gave great joy
To everyone near.
Springs almost over,
Why this sudden fear!
Before the time came,
The flower gave us seeds.
Winds carried them gently,
Filling all the worlds needs.
The seeds were love,
Scattered around.
Try not to be sad,
The flower is found.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
