Thomas Spann Farmer, Jr. SUMMERVILLE - Thomas Spann Farmer, Jr., 90, of Summerville, SC, followed his late wife Elizabeth Young Farmer into everlasting peace on Friday, July 11, 2014. Tom was born in Florence County, SC, the youngest of six children to the late Thomas Span Farmer and Henrietta Hoffmyer Farmer. A veteran of World War II and a graduate of Furman University, he worked in building materials sales and management for 37 years. He retired from Lowe's companies in 1986, and devoted much of his time and boundless energy to serving his community and church. He poured his love into his extended family and into baking endless batches of his coveted cookies. Tom is survived by his two children, Tom Farmer, III of Brooklyn, NY and Christina F. Waring of Summerville, SC. In addition to his wife and parents, Tom was predeceased by a sister, Janie Myers and four brothers, Quay, Philip, Epp, and Gene Farmer. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, July 16, 2014 at Parks Funeral Home between the hours of 6 PM and 8 PM. Services will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church on Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2014 at 3 PM and continuing graveside at Summerville Cemetery. Dear Tommy and Tina, Your daddy became a very special friend to William and I so many years ago and we loved him so. We cherish the memories of great laughs and unbelievable wisdom.
