Thomas Dennis Obituary

Thomas E. Dennis Bonneau, SC - Thomas Edsel Dennis, Sr., 91, of Bonneau, widower of Willie Mae Barfield Dennis, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Tom was born December 17, 1929 in Berkeley County, a son of Richard C. Dennis, Sr. and Lessie Brinson Dennis. A devoted family man, Tom and Mrs. Willie Mae shared 69 years of marriage before she passed away in June of 2019. Tom was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Bonneau, where he served in many leadership positions, including Chairman of the Deacons. He was also the oldest surviving male member of the congregation. Tom "loved God's earth" and spent his life farming the land. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be sadly missed by his family, friends, church and the Bonneau Community. He is survived by a daughter- Marjorie Dennis McMakin and her husband, C.W. of Moncks Corner; a son- Tom Dennis, Jr. of Bonneau; grandchildren- Shea McMakin and his wife, Christie, of Moncks Corner; Brett McMakin and his wife, Abby, of Moncks Corner; Brooks Dennis of Bonneau and Hannah Dennis also of Bonneau; 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers- Harry Dennis and his wife, Ruby Lee of Bonneau; Danny Dennis and his wife, Dianne, of Bonneau; two sisters- Hilda Lewis and her husband, Dave, of Bonneau and Catherine Chapman and her husband, Charles, also of Bonneau. In addition to his wife, Willie Mae, Tom is predeceased by two brothers- Fleetwood Dennis and Richard Dennis. His funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Bonneau, Saturday morning, September 4, 2021, at 11 o'clock. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 10 o'clock until the hour of service. Everyone attending the service is asked to wear a mask.
