Thomas DeLoach Obituary

Thomas Ralph DeLoach HAMPTON, SC - Mr. Thomas Ralph DeLoach, 92, of Hampton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 20, 2023. Born October 24th, 1930, in Allendale, South Carolina, he was the son of the late James Walker DeLoach and Winnie Roberts DeLoach. He attended Varnville High School and went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a long, successful career working with companies like Westinghouse Electric Corp., Douglas Aircraft, and Martin Marietta Corp. After living in many different states across the country with his wife and children, they returned to Hampton, South Carolina, where Ralph founded Coastal Engineered Products and was the CEO from 1973 until 1994. He was also the founder of Xrod, Inc., a pultrusion company, and the founder and operator of Mooring Whip Sales which he started after retirement and operated until he was in his late 80s. He was extremely active in his community. He served on the Hampton County Economic Development Commission, represented Hampton County in the Commission of the Technical College of the Lowcountry, was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge #153, and was a member and deacon of Varnville First Baptist Church. He also spent many years serving the community through Helping Hands at Varnville First Baptist, where he helped design and build handicap-accessible ramps for those in need. Ralph was a devoted Christian, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Surviving are: his children, Thom and Pam DeLoach of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Wes DeLoach of Aiken, South Carolina, and Donna Gohagan of Aiken, South Carolina; his brother, Don DeLoach and Grace of Varnville; his six grandchildren, Andy, Justin, and Matthew DeLoach, and Jake, Ginny, and Sarah Gohagan; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruth O'Quinn DeLoach; and his brothers and sisters, Lt. Col. J.W. DeLoach, Bob DeLoach, Jane DeLoach Baxley, Elizabeth "Zan" DeLoach Bradley, Winnie Maude DeLoach Walters, and Grace DeLoach. The family will receive friends Friday, February 24th, from 6 - 7:30 P.M. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton. Graveside services for friends and family will be on Saturday, February 25th, at 2 P.M. at the Sand Hill Cemetery.
