Thomas Conroy Obituary

Thomas S. Conroy Thomas S. Conroy, 79, of Bluffton, SC died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and his beloved dog Cleo after a brave battle with thyroid cancer. Mr. Conroy was born in Summit, NJ on February 28, 1935, the son of the late Thomas J. Conroy and Grace Wiatroski Conroy. He worked for Jersey Central Power and Light for 42 years prior to retiring to Bluffton, SC. While living in Bluffton, he worked at the Robert Trent Jones golf course for 20 years as a starter/ranger. He was a member of the IBEW and the Summit Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Palmetto Hall, Belfair, and Crescent Pointe Golf Clubs. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Rhoda Gloshinski Conroy. He is survived by his sons, Thomas S. Conroy, Jr. (Deborah) of Richmond, VA and Kenneth Conroy (Beth) of Savannah, GA; daughters, Kathleen Johnston (Charles) of Harrisburg, PA and Karen Conroy of Tampa, FL; brother, David Conroy (Linda) of Naples, FL; 10 grandchildren (Carissa, Caitlin, Courtney, Carleigh, McCall, McKenzee, Christopher, Charles, Kenneth, and MaryGrace); and his partner in crime, Cleo his beloved dog. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Summit Cancer Care at 5400 Sutlive St, Savannah, GA 31405 Attn: Kris Tillman, who helps patients in need or to the local Humane Society at PO Box 21790 Hilton Head Island, SC 29925.
