Thomas Cantley Obituary

Thomas Cantley GOOSE CREEK - Thomas William Cantley, 92, of Goose Creek, passed away October 7, 2012. Born in Ridgeville, SC he was the son of the late John C. and Exxie Myers Cantley. He grew up in the Chicora area of North Charleston and graduated from North Charleston High School. Mr. Cantley enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and was selected for Officer Candidate School and served as an Artillery Officer. Mr. Cantley was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart during his service. He retired from the Charleston Air Force base as a Civil Service Personnel Manager. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. Cantley, who passed away in 2010. He is survived by his two sons, James A. Cantley of Goose Creek and John T. Cantley of Savannah, GA; brother, John Cantley and wife Catherine of Saluda, SC. Mr. Cantley is also survived by many extended family members and friends. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 869 St. James Avenue. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens, North Charleston.
