Thomas Cannon Obituary

Thomas Cannon JAMES ISLAND - Thomas Vernon Cannon, Sr., of James Island, SC, formerly of Bonneau, SC and Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011. The funeral service for Mr. Cannon will be Saturday, January 15, 2011, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cannon was born July 28, 1928, in Conway, SC, son of the late Samuel D. Cannon and Fannie Bourne Cannon Collins and her husband, Edgar Collins of Bucksport, SC. He retired from the US Air Force. He also retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Shop 56. Surviving are his son, Thomas V. Cannon, Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Awendaw, SC, one daughter, Carol Irizarry and her husband, Mike, of James Island, SC, four grandchildren, Shana Haynie and her husband, Christian of Austin, TX, Jenna Boyce and her husband, Chris, Mark Cannon and his wife, Sabrina, and Jessica McDonald, and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Eli, Samantha and Ryan and one brother, Lamar Cannon and his wife, Beverly of Heber Springs, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith J. Cannon. The family would like to thank Dr. Alice Boylan for her compassion and expert care. The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, P. O. Box 250955, Charleston, SC 29425.
