Thomas W. Brooks LADSON - Thomas W. Brooks, 86, of Ladson, widower of Patricia Brooks passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Trident Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Friday, June 30, 2017 at James A. Dyal Funeral Home from 6 to 8 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10 o'clock at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Rite of Committal with Final Commendation will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Mr. Brooks was born June 8, 1931 in Pickens, SC, son of the late Stanley Brooks and Betty Mae Gilstrap Brooks. Mr. Brooks retired as a CWO-W3 Electronic Engineer after 24 years of service in the United States Navy serving in the Korean War. He also retired as a Master Electrician from Santee Cooper. He was a 4th Degree Knight and was very active with the Fr. Ronald P. Anderson Council 8900 of the Knights of Columbus and served as Treasurer. Mr. Brooks was very active in the Charleston Kennel Club and was a certified gemologist. He loved his church and was very active in his church as evidenced by all of the volunteer hours he accumulated. Survivors include three daughters: Spring E. Brooks of Durham, NC, Robin Brooks of Groton, CT and Betty C. Brooks of Ladson; two grandchildren: Lisa and Matthew Ramsey of Groton, CT and many nieces and nephews.
