Thomas Bradley Obituary

BRADLEY, Thomas Thomas L. Bradley died at his home on January 2, 2006, after a long illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 15, 1931 to the late Leeroy & Arlene Bradley. He is survived by his wife: Julie Bradley; his oldest son, Steven (Ann) Bradley of Pittsburgh, his son Martin Bradley of Pittsburgh, his daughter, Karen (Paul) Decker of Cleveland, OH, and Julie's children, Vincent (Sonia) McElhinny of San Antonio, TX; Mary McElhinny of Columbia, MD; Anthony (Deborah) of Granger, IN; Amanda McElhinny of Atlanta, GA; and Mark (Kim) McElhinny of Chicago, IL. His grandchildren: Sarah, Sam, Jessica, Lauren, Christy, Brad, Anna, Kimberly, Taylor, Ryan, Grace and Madison. He is also survived by his Aunt Mary McDonald of Potomac, MD. Mr. Bradley retired to the Isle of Palms, SC from Cleveland, OH after a 44 year career with Applied Industrial Technology (formerly Bearings Inc.). He was a long time member of Stella Maris Church in Sullivans Island, SC. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War as a member of the 101st Airborne Infantry. Tom was active in many philanthropic organizations, both in Cleveland and Charleston, SC. He was a founding board member of the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League, and had a special place in his heart for his service to the Achievement Center in Cleveland. Tom loved his family, the Steelers, golf and especially his country. Friends and family are being received Friday, 2 to 8 p.m., at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME, 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont, PA 15139, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church. Family suggests memorials be made to: The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 2004 Ironwood Circle, Suite 140, South Bend, IN 46635; or The Low Country Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 4 Carriage Lane, Charleston, SC 28407. His ever present smile,unfailing sense of humor,warm personality,genuine sense of caring and magnificent leadership will always be remembered by those of us who were privileged to have worked with him for so many years. He was one of those rare individuals who crept into your heart and left footprints in your soul. Godspeed Tom! Thank you for a life well done!Condolences to Julie and the family,Tom was that once in a lifetime treat that God allowed us all to share. The time was much too short. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Our prayers are with you at this time of great sadness.
