Thomas Barnes Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Barnes N. Charleston - Thomas "Tom" M. Barnes, 76, of North Charleston, husband of Mary L. Barnes, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his residence. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 11 to 1 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 o'clock. Burial will follow at a later date at Oakwood cemetery in Sharon, PA. Tom was born in Sharon, PA on August 9, 1941, son of the late F. Marshall Barnes and Minnie Barnes. He was a graduate of Sharon High school in Sharon, PA and received his Bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University. He was a commercial agent at Carolina One in Summerville, SC where he served the community helping small business owners for the past 15 years. He retired after over 20 years with Ford Motor Company. Tom was a member of the Rotary Club and also belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He was an advisor for SCORE which helped people start small businesses. He was an avid golfer and a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife Mary are: his daughter: Katharine Boehm (Donald) of Falls Church, VA; his son: Thomas "Tom" Barnes Jr. (Ginevra) of Melbourne, Australia; four grandchildren: Rosina, Liliana, Samuel and Thomas III; two sisters: Sally Barnes of Hermitage, PA and Judy Rice (Mark) of Hermitage, PA. Memorials may be made to Wounded Veterans Foundation, PO Box 149, Yorktown, IN 47396 or Nation MS Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163. Tom was a very loving husband and father!! He cared deeply for all those around him. It was a privilege to know this wonderful man. He is very missed.

Tom was the first neighbor we met when we moved into Coosaw Creek. Tom was a delightful person and we enjoyed numersous conversations. He will be dearly missed as a neighbor and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of grief. Our deepest condolences.
