A gentle giant has taken the wings of morning and flew away as quietly as he lived his life. He was a pillar in the childhood community that held my roots, and I so will forever be a part of the fabric of my life. My condolences to the family for healing and wonderful memories held close to the heart.

I like to take a few moments of your time to express my deepest sympathy. i grew up calling this wonder man Junior. He was one of my dads last friends alive. Over the years I would visit him to say hi every chance I got to return to Charleston. Junior and Apple was some of the older ones i met at the early age of 6yrs old and my dad is who built bars and buildings on Mosquito Beach...I remember as a little girl spending time with Aunt Middy and Uncle Joe. I grew up around there and was just part of the families back in the day.I was known as Mr Porters daughter by Junior and i was fortunate and blessed to have known this man and im glad that my family had the chance as well.. RIP my dear friend.. Martha Porter Whitacre
