Theresa Sims Obituary

Theresa G. Sims ORLANDO, FLA. - Mrs. Theresa G. Sims, wife of the late Roy L. Sims, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and served, Thursday June 4, 2009. She was 94. Mrs. Sims was born in Colleton County October 26, 1914. She was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress, and possessed a quiet demeanor with a compassion to help those less fortunate than her...a quality that stemmed from the poverty she witnessed during her pre-depression years in rural South Carolina. She loved animals, and cared for the ones that suffered and were in need. She deeply loved her two shaded Silver Persian Cats, Princess and Resa...the latter of which derived its name from Mrs. Sims. She was very fond of staying in her cottage and attending the Indian Springs Camp Meeting every Summer, a camp her husband was a trustee of for thirty-four years. She was an active member of the First Alliance Church. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jean Sims, of Orlando, four nieces and one nephew, Deborah Marsh, of West Columbia, Cynthia Craven and Jackie Craven, of Green Pond, and Wanda Eason, and Jerry Craven, both of Walterboro. She was preceded in death by her husband in January of 2000. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Peniel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00. Online condolences may be left at www.parkerrhodenfuneralhome.com. PARKER-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 PAUL STREET, WALTERBORO, is in charge of arrangements. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/deaths

Charles and I and the rest of my extended family are keeping you in our prayers daily. Look to God for strength, guidance, and understanding. Your family is there for you. You may have been any only child, but, you never will be lonely as long as the nieces and nephews can prevent it. Cherish your memories and remember the good times, and try to focus on the sad times. We love you and hope to see you later this week.

Barbara,

I know this is a hard time for You. But, you can have peace knowing that she is in Heaven with the Lord and Uncle Roy. You have many, many wonderful memories of your parents that You will always cherish, they will keep you strong and a smile on your face. Aunt Theresa was a wonderful woman and held a special place in many hearts. She will be remembered for many good things that she has done in her life and for just being the special person that she was. Knowing all of this, the love that she had for you and her Faith in the Lord will comfort you during the days ahead. May the Lord be with you today and always.

Love,
Karen

Barbara,

I will always cherish the memories I have of Aunt Theresa and of the stories she told of times gone by. She was truly a southern lady and loved her family. She loved you and had so much pride in her voice when she talked of you.
She recently had talked of how much she missed Roy. They are now together once again forever.
God Bless you during this very difficult time.
Love,
Cynthia
