I didn't get to know Terri really well, just conversations at conventions and stories and photos of her kindness to dogs as well as people. My impression of Terri is one of quiet kindness. The kindness that is reassurance, comfort, and cheer to those who need it. We all need quiet kindness. Kind is a word that is easy to underestimate. The power it has comes when you meet someone who truly embodies kind. Quietly kind people leave a sense of calm relief, of tranquility, of healing in their wake. All of us who were fortunate enough to know Terrie even a little have experienced this quiet kindness and have witnessed it in her interactions with both dogs and humans. Quiet kindness shores up the world, and the world is better for her life and much sadder for her loss. Sending our heartfelt sympathy.

Dearest loved ones of Terri,
I am so sorry for your immeasurable loss. I was reading through the Indy obituaries last evening when I came across her passing. It was wild to see because I was telling someone who needed help in the worst way about my experience with Terri. I told him she my my own counselor in rehab in 2011 and 2012. She was a tiny but not to be fooled, she was a stick of dynamite. She saved my life and I will never ever forget her. She got in my face so many times and I was so mad at the fact that she was right every single time. What I wouldn't give to have her shining light in my face one more time. She shared stories of her family and of the fondest sentiment each of you held in her life. The magnitude and the force that accompanied her purpose in her journey will never be forgotten. Not by me more the countless others she helped. Until we all meet her again...love and deepest of sympathy.

I did not know Terrie very long. I had the honor of working with her only for a little under two months. Yet, in those few short weeks, no one would be able to neglect or ignore the fount of compassion that Terrie manifested in her daily life. She was experienced and skilled in the mental health field, having provided me counsel, advice, and encouragement on more than one occasion - guidance that I will not forget and always be grateful for. Terrie had the rare and unique ability to empathize with others on a holistic level, setting aside her own beliefs and biases in order to effectively help and serve others who's lived experiences may have drastically differed from her own. Terrie was in her element, fulfilling her spiritual calling, by helping others walk through their dark night of the soul - be that grief, depression, anxiety, addiction, or coping with the lasting impacts of trauma. She served as a confidant and friend to all who needed her and the lasting impacts of her work here on Earth will continue to be felt for years to come.
Rest in joy and power, Terrie.

Terrie was a good friend and confidant. Whether showing dogs, teaching quilting or Karate, she was always patient and kind. I just found a card that she and other Sensei gave me when she tirelessly helped me get my black belt. It says Rainbows are people whole lives are bright, shining examples for others by Maya Angelou. That is the Terrie I loved and will always remember. Dean, Shawn and Sandy, you have my deepest condolences and my prayers. May God bring comfort to you knowing that she left a legacy of love and friendship and is now present with the Lord.

We finally met Terrie and Dean at the basenjis convention in Portland Oregon.
And even though we had only ever been friends on Facebook I felt like we had been neighbors all along.
The world has lost a beautiful and caring person.
I don't think I've ever met a more sincere person in my entire life. Godspeed Terrie.
