Theresa Redding Obituary

Theresa Chaney Redding, 88, of Charleston, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, and treasured friend, Theresa lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep care, and a steadfast attention to detail. Born on September 5, 1936, to Grover "GT" Thaxton Chaney and Bessie Ursell Sturkie, Theresa grew up with strong family values that would remain at the center of her life. She became the loving faithful wife of Donald W. Redding. Theresa took great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She nurtured a love for plants. She enjoyed watching her favorite soap opera, The Young and the Restless, and found peace in the pages of a good book. But above all, Theresa's heart belonged to her son, David Redding. His well-being was her life's priority, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to caring for him with dedication and love. Theresa had an eye for detail that served her well during her years as a successful AVON salesperson. She built lasting connections with customers and friends alike, always taking the time to listen and offer thoughtful guidance. She is survived by her loving children: David Wayne Redding, Bruce Alan Redding (Lucenda), and Terry Lee Redding; her grandchildren: Jeremiah Redding, Joshua Redding (Jennifer), Christopher Redding, Michael Redding, and Nathaniel Redding; as well as 7 beloved grandchildren and 6 beloved siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband; as well as 4 siblings. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, beginning at 10am at Plantation Memorial Gardens.
