Thelma Ramsey Obituary

RAMSEY, Thelma ESTILL - Mrs. Thelma Herndon Ramsay of Estill, SC died December 19, 2007 in Columbia. Mrs. Ramsay, 97, was born in Colleton County, SC on August 31, 1910 to Henry T. Herndon and Carrie O'Quinn Herndon. She was married to the late Rupert Solomons (Buck) Ramsay. She had been the store manager for Baker Dry Good in Estill and later joined the Exchange Bank as Vice President. She was very active in civic affairs, having been President and a long time member of Estill Reading and Study Club and The Social Dozen. She was a member of Lawtonville Baptist Church, an RA leader, director of the Sunday School Intermediate Department, Training Union, and WMU. She was WMU and Training Union Associational Director. Mrs. Ramsay is survived by her daughter, Ruby Ramsay of Columbia, three grand daughters: Jane Madden (Craig) Duensing of Columbia; Tammie Price (Van) Hegler of Chapin and Eve Price (Bryan) Chassereau of Elgin. There are 5 great grandchildren, Bryan Rupert and Mary Rebecca Duensing, William Van and Jonathan Hunter Hegler and Hannah Ramsay Chassereau. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carrie Jean Price and her great grandchild, Laura Elizabeth Duensing. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday at 2 PM in the Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill, SC, conducted by Rev. Dr. James Norris and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME OF ESTILL.
