Thelma L. Gardner Jackson-Grant ORANGEBURG, SC - Thelma L. Gardner Jackson-Grant passed away at her home on 30 June 2017 at the age of 65. She was born on June 19, 1952, in Orangeburg, SC and transitioned on Friday, June 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Albert Gardner and Sarah Houser Gardner, sister Wilma Gadson, brothers, Willie Clay, Marion Leroy, James Arthur, Roosevelt, Isaiah Gardner, Husbands Bruce A Grant and Isaiah Jackson also deceased walked with her in life. She served as a distinguished educator in the Charleston, Bowman, Orangeburg and California School Districts for greater than 30 years. Left to celebrate and cherish Thelma's life are: her daughter, Ericka Sumlar (Ray) of Charlotte, NC; her sons, Bruce (Kekentia) Grant of Killeen, TX and Thomas Grant of Sacramento, CA; her sisters, Sarah Sandle (Bobby), Linda Jean Kemp of Orangeburg, SC, Minnie Darby of Washington, DC and her brother, Albert of Orangeburg, SC; five grandchildren, Dellonoe Hall, Zachary Grant, Maiyumi Grant of Killeen TX, Maya and Elena Grant all of San Jose, CA. Special friends, Mrs. Eartha Boyd, her Mentor of Orangeburg, SC, Ms. Barbara Evans of Raleigh, NC and Janet Hutchinson of Charleston, SC, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Memorial Services for Thelma will be at The Bull Swamp Baptist Church in Orangeburg S.C. to celebrate a life well lived on Saturday, 8 July 2017 at 4pm.
