Theadora Marcot Obituary
Theadora Nancy Marcot, lovingly known as Teddy, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 83. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Teddy lived a life marked by compassion, service, and grace. Born on November 9, 1941 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, to Theadore and Frances Miller, Teddy grew up with a heart for caring for others. After graduating Moon High School in 1959, she pursued her passion for nursing, graduating from Sewickley Valley Nursing School in 1962. She then moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she worked at Walter Reed Medical Center as well as The National Institutes of Health. She met her future husband, Guy Paul Marcot on September 26, 1963 and wed one year later on September 26, 1964. They shared over 47 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Their enduring partnership was rooted in love, faith, and mutual respect. Her commitment to lifelong learning led her to earn a bachelor's degree from The American University in 1983 and a master's degree from Georgetown University in Gerontology in 1984; achievements that reflected both her intellect and her deep dedication to her profession. Teddy worked for many years as a nurse, offering kindness and skilled care to countless patients. After earning her master's, she started her own business as a Gerontological Consultant until her retirement when she and Guy moved to Summerville, South Carolina to be close to her daughter and grandsons. Her legacy of service lives on in the lives she touched. A faithful and active member of Dorchester Presbyterian Church in Summerville, South Carolina, Teddy not only worshipped there but also contributed to its future by founding the church's Memorial Garden; a lasting gift to her community. Teddy had a vibrant spirit and many passions. She loved the challenge and camaraderie of playing tennis and bridge, earning her Life Masters, and was always happiest in the company of her beloved dogs. Teddy will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering faith, her wit, and her warm heart. She leaves behind cherished memories for all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving children: Monica Philpott and Guy Matthew Marcot; her grandsons: Ryan Philpott (Gretchen), Austin Philpott, and Brandon Philpott; her great granddaughters: Piper Philpott and Adelynn Philpott; as well as her sister, Lucille Taylor; She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; as well as her brother, Michael Miller. A memorial service will be held at Dorchester Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM, with her remains to be interred in the Memorial Garden that she helped establish.
