Terry Preston Ward CHESHIRE, CT - Terry Preston Ward, age 55, of Cheshire entered into rest on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. For over 20 years he was the devoted husband and father of Karen Kinchla Ward and Preston Kendall Ward. Terry was born on October 22, 1958 in Fayetteville, NC, son of the late Clifford Zane and Eunella Eggers Ward. He and his family moved to Charleston, SC. Terry was predeceased by his older brother Randy Ward, and is survived by his eldest brother Timothy Zane Ward of Savannah, GA. He leaves family in North Carolina and many friends in Charleston, SC. Terry attended Baptist College and the University of South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He then worked as a Parole and Probation Officer in South Carolina. In 1996, Terry and his family relocated to North Branford, CT and was employed with the State of CT as a Support Enforcement Officer. They then moved to Cheshire, CT where they have been residents since 1999. He and Karen are active members of the Christ Community Church in Cheshire. A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., Cheshire CT 06410. Friends may greet the family from 10 AM until the time of service at Noon. Interment will follow at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. I am just finding out about Terry. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Terry and I worked together as Probation/Parole Agents in S.C. Never a day went by in the office that he didn't bring laughter! He made it easy for me to enjoy my job more. He will be missed!

Terry was my friend for almost forty years. Even though he moved from the area almost twenty years ago, he remained a loyal friend and fellow Gamecock fan. We spent many hours on the phone during and after Carolina football games playing "armchair quarterback." I offer my heartfelt condolences to his wife and son as I know they will sorely miss him. I never had the pleasure of meeting his son, but felt as though I had because he was so proud of Preston. Karen and Preston, please keep my number and feel free to call me if you ever need anything or visit our area as my wife and I would enjoy seeing you.
