Tara Bussjager Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Tara Bussjager, on February 14, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born on February 8th, 1950, in Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Bussjager.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness, strength, and love touched those who knew her. Tara enjoyed a long successful career with the airlines and in residential real estate. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, passion for animals, travel, gardening, books and telling stories.

She is survived by her two children Justin Bussjager (Shar) and, Taryn Bussjager; John's children, Chris Bussjager (Ameila) and Erica Swift (Geno); many relatives and dear friends. While many knew her as Tara, her favorite title was "Oma" given to her by her four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the family home, 490 Barfield Dr, Summerville, SC 29485 on Saturday, March 7th. She will permanently rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in her cherished Chicago with her husband John.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary or St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church.
