Sylvia Sona SUMMERVILLE - Sylvia Sweatman Sona, 76, of Summerville, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 2 o'clock at Knightsville Methodist Church, 1505 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483. The family will receive friends an hour before the service for a visitation. Flowers are accepted or memorials can be made in honor of Sylvia to the Berkeley Animal Center, 131 Central Berkeley Dr., Moncks Corner, SC 29461. Sylvia was born on April 29, 1948 in Summerville, SC to the late Alvin and Camilla Sweatman. Sylvia was employed by The First National Bank of Holly Hill and NBSC as head loan officer and branch manager. She then went on to work for the Berkeley County School District at Devon Forest Elementary until her retirement. Sylvia loved many things in life, but she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of plants and animals, her church, and being an avid collector of many things. She will be missed dearly by many. Sylvia is survived by her son, Matthew Sona (Brittany) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Megan Bates (Jeffrey) of Summerville, SC; sisters, Donna Knight (Myles) of Savannah, GA, Patricia Elrod of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Oliver, Rivers, AnnMartin, Jamison, and Millie Kate.
