Sylvia Enos Obituary

Sylvia Joan Enos McCLELLANVILLE - Sylvia Joan Enos, 83, of McClellanville, South Carolina passed away surrounded by family at the home of her brother and sister-in-law in Fairmont, West Virginia on Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Sylvia was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 1, 1930. She attended Bishop England High School and graduated in 1948. Sylvia was a voracious reader, a passionate lover of animals, and an environmentalist. She had countless friends whom she visited often and made many trips to Fairmont and elsewhere to attend special occasions of her brother's family. Sylvia worked in the accounting office of Johnson and Johnson Insurance Company in Charleston, SC for over 49 years. She also worked briefly in Winston Salem, NC for the Integon Insurance Company. Sylvia is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Armstrong Enos, her father, Wilbur Kenneth Enos and her step-mother, Jean Coulter Enos. She is survived by her brother, Wilbur Kenneth Enos, Jr. and his wife, Cecily McAteer Enos of Fairmont. Survivors also include close cousins, Dorothy Boone of Charleston, SC, Martha Sather, Lucy Stith and Robert Vaughn, all of Winston-Salem, NC. In addition, she is survived by four nieces and three nephews, Maggie Enos Taylor and husband Tracy and children, Will and Jack of Solon, OH; Rosemary Enos Vingle and husband Barry of Fairmont, WV; Wibb Enos and wife Sandra and children Kenneth, Benjamin and Sylvia Marina of Twinsburg, OH; Kate Enos Frownfelter and husband Mark and children Erin, Colin and Aidan of Rockville, MD; Marshall Enos and his wife Anne and children, Cecilia and John Marshall of Potomac, MD; Mary Ellen Enos Baker, her husband Bryce and children, Lucy and Alice of Wheaton, IL and Michael Enos of South Euclid, OH. She is also survived by numerous cousins in Winston-Salem, NC. The visitation will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Sunday, May 18 from 5-8 PM. Vigil Service beginning at 5:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Dr., Mt. Pleasant, SC on Monday, May 19 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Charleston, SC. Followed by a luncheon at Burton's Grill, located in the Mt. Pleasant Towne Center, 1875 Highway 17 North, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. I worked with Sylvia at Johnson &Johnson for many years. I enjoyed our friendship and would be at her funeral if I was in Charleston. I am down in Pensacola, FL visiting my daughter. Sylvia will be missed and is in a far better place.
