Shocked to hear the news today. She was a great friend who had the best sense of humor and laugh of anybody I have ever known.

Susan was always a great supporter of women in the arts.
She encouraged me to branch out and start a new chapter with Walker Romaine Gallery.
Working together in Artist Alley and Pineapple Grove was an exciting time.
Laughing, singing, drinking & dancing together are joyful memories I have of Susan.
An extraordinary painter, beautiful intelligent woman, and delightfully good soul.

The brightest of souls. The warmest of hearts. Brilliant, strong and kind. As a friend, she was always there for a good laugh and a shoulder to cry on. As an artist, her vision and talent was incredible. She captured light like Vermeer and the essence of her subject as if she had created them. My dear friend, I will miss your smile and laugh for the rest of my days. I feel so fortunate to have known you. Safe travels to new adventures.

oh dear Kathryn, my heart breaks for you and your children. Your mom was taken way too young. What an extraordinary, lovely woman. May her memory be a blessing now and for always. With love and deep sympathy, Rochelle Rutledge, Sullivans Island.

I remember when Susan first started painting in the mid 90s. She started painting and right away there was talent I can still remember how excited she was. She was such a loving mom to Kathryn and simply adored her and was devoted to Henry. She always laughed and had positive and wonderful ways to encourage others. Both Susan, Henry and even Kathryn came to our wedding back in 96, and even came to our baby shower years later taking time out of their busy lives to invest into ours with their love. I will never forget our days on Sullivan“s Island and the impact it made in my life at the time. Susan you will be missed, but your legacy and love will carry on in Kathryn, and your grandchildren and your work. Blessings to all of you.
