Susan Gilbert Elloree, SC - Susan Hanf-Painter Gilbert, 71, of Elloree, South Carolina, wife of Robert Melvin Gilbert, Jr., entered into eternal rest Monday, September 26, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 pm. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Susan was born March 1, 1951 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Norman Adelbert Hanf and the late Thela Mae Thomas. She was a graduate of Moultrie High School, and a resident of Mt. Pleasant for 65 years. Susan was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Mt, Pleasant. When she moved to Elloree 3 years ago, she joined the First Baptist Church of Elloree. She will be remembered for her love of the Lord, the lowcountry and her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob; two sons, Robby Gilbert (Carey) of Cumming, GA and James C. Painter of North Ogden, Utah; five siblings: Linda Hanf of Mt. Pleasant, Norman Hanf, Jr. (Susie) of Mt. Pleasant, Tommy Hanf (Robin) of North Charleston, Nancy Boozer (Jim) of VA, and Barbara Henson (Jay) of Huntsville, AL; two grandchildren, Cadyn Gilbert, Carys Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews.
