Susan Boyd Obituary

Susan Herden Boyd passed away on July 17, 2025, in her home. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday, July 26, at 3pm at Dorchester Presbyterian Church. She was born October 22, 1946, in Saint Petersburg, Florida, the third of four siblings. She graduated in 1964 at Boco Ciega High School. After graduating, she went on to earn her degree as a Dental Assistant. While in school, she met the love of her life, Collis E. Boyd. Collis and Sue married on July 20, 1968. They started their lifelong adventure together in Glen Ellyn, IL. They were blessed with a daughter, Rebecca Sue Boyd followed by their son, Raymond Poe Boyd. Sue and Collis went on to live in Sparta, New Jersey before settling in Summerville, South Carolina. She was a loving wife and mother. Sue devoted her life to making those around her feel special. It didn't matter if it was a member at Church, a neighbor, or just a stranger at the supermarket, Sue always had a friendly word and a smile. Sue was especially dedicated to her family and generous with her gift of service in all aspects of her life. No matter where she lived, Sue was the first to help those around her. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Collis Boyd; her daughter, Becky; her son, Ray; her 5 grandchildren: Jeremy, Mason, Dylan, Zane, and Conner, her sister, Betty; as well as her brothers: Richard and Jim.
