Just noticed this, in a search for people who were meaningful to me in my life. I worked for/with Steve for a number of years. I don't mean to make this about me, but finding this was a real gut punch. Steve was one of the nicest, brightest and most likeable people who ever entered my life. I'm hurting too Kathy. :'(

I met Steve when we enrolled at Johns Hopkins University in the fall of 1963. We became very close friends, almost inseparable; we visited each other's homes; and were roommates (with bunk beds!)our sophomore year. Although we haven't communicated recently, I have wonderful memories of all we shared as we entered our world of independence. My condolences to the family.

We met Steve at the wonderful wedding brunch he hosted for his beloved daughter Rebecca when she and my brother married. It was clear that he was a loving and proud father. We felt his warm welcome, bright energy and true curiosity about the world. His legacy is the beautiful family he's created and we are fortunate to have Rebecca as part of our family too. We hold Steve's family in our thoughts and prayers.
In sympathy,
Harish, Suzanne, Sofiya and Arjun Lyall
