Steven Kennedy Obituary

Steven A. Kennedy, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on June 17, 1956, in Charleston, South Carolina, Steven was the cherished son of Bobby Kennedy and Dorothy Kennedy McJunkin (Gary). Steve lived life with a warmth and humor that touched everyone who knew him. Known for his easygoing nature and infectious laugh, he was truly the life of the party, always ready with a good story, a hearty chuckle, and a cup of strong coffee in hand. His presence could light up a room, and his ability to make others feel welcome and at ease was one of his many gifts. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: fishing by the water's edge, sharing a good meal, and savoring quiet mornings with his favorite cup of coffee. But above all, Steve loved his family deeply. He was especially proud of and devoted to his granddaughter, Aubree, who brought happiness to his later years. Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His laughter, kindness, and love for life will leave a lasting legacy. He is survived by his loving children: Stephanie Spencer (Justin) and Michael Ankenbauer; his grandchildren: Aubree Spencer, Trey Ankenbauer, Trevor Ankenbauer, Heaven Spencer, and Jesse Spencer; his siblings: Cynthia Kennedy and Danny McJunkin (Angela); as well as his nieces and nephews: Michael Smith, Amy Smith, Daniel McJunkin, and Khristopher Ankenbauer. He was preceded in death by his loving parents. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 1pm to 2pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
