Stephen Ward Obituary

Stephen Day Ward, Jr. Seabrook Island - Stephen Day Ward, Jr., 72, of Seabrook Island, South Carolina, husband of Mary Ward, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 16, 2016. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Stephen was born September 11, 1944 in New York, New York, son of the late Stephen Day Ward and Hazel Ward Wells. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University, and earned his Master's degree at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He was a Member of Grace Church Cathedral and was retired from Cargill after a 33 year career that took him to Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Switzerland. His heart was in Asia and he loved to travel; he enjoyed tennis and doted on his kitties Sinbad and Samantha. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ward of Seabrook Island, SC; daughter, Stephanie Cibinic (John) of Arlington, VA; four sons, David Ward (Gannon) of Ridgefield, CT, Brian Ward (Stephanie) of Jacksonville, FL, Jeremy Ward of Seattle, WA, Steve Ward of Houston, TX; two step children, Gary Diemer (Deanna) of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth Diemer (Steven Wiersum) of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Rebecca Ward of Tampa, FL, and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd Street, New York, NY 10128-6804.
