Stephen Rudnick Obituary

Stephen Ellis Rudnick
Compassionate, hardworking, eloquent, stubborn, creative, darkly humorous, intelligent and utterly unique are words that only begin to describe Stephen Ellis Rudnick. Born in Philadelphia on July 25, 1943, he lost his battle with lung cancer on November 19, 2005. For 33 years, Stephens dedication to professionalism was evident in his primary career as a truck driver for Rotelle, Inc. and Northeast Frozen Foods. Most recently he enthusiastically taught CDL classes for Lehigh Career and Technical Institute. Also a photographer, he documented what brought him joy: family, friends, musicians and nature. By persevering the long hours, hardships and challenges as a driver, instructor, and artist, he made lifelong friendships which he will eternally value. Throughout his lifetime, Stephen worked as hard as any man possibly could because he was fully devoted to his family. But his true passions were photography, music and cooking. As his friends, students and family understand, to remark on his creative abilities and knowledge could never do him justice. No other man could so exquisitely express the struggles of love and labor through photographs, music, and food. Those who have visited his long time home in Coopersburg will always remember the intense imagery, sounds, and flavors that Stephen loved to share. Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 32 years Arlene; daughter Beth, son-in-law Brian, and grandson Matthew Prosser of Wellsville; daughter AJ and son-in-law Joey Ikner of Round Hill, Va.; son Stephen and daughter-in-law Kunbi Rudnick of Philadelphia; and stepfather Norman Grabois and companion Jean Smith of Allentown. He was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn Cohen Grabois. Stephen passed away in his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Services: Family and friends are invited to express their condolences at Falk Funeral Home, 1418 Main Street, Hellertown, on Tuesday, November 22 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Contributions: In tribute to his love of music and of learning, memorial contributions can be made to Settlement Music School c/o Falk Funeral Home.
