Stephen Peeples Obituary

Stephen "Steve" Craig Peeples, 75, of Cross, passed away Friday morning, March 20, 2026 in a local nursing facility. Steve was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1951 and reared in Estill, South Carolina, by his maternal grandparents, Van and Lillian Peeples. He graduated from Estill High School and then attended The Citadel.

Steve enjoyed a number of jobs until he found his passion-driving! For many years he explored the United States as a trucker, using Berkeley County and his cousin Dr. Sam Seashole's farm as his home base between runs. When he retired, he settled on his cousin's farm, where he lived the last fifteen years of his life. Sam and Steve played together as children and later bonded like brothers.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother Sara Peeples Templeton and his adoptive parents, Van and Lillian Peeples. He is survived by cousins: Dr. Sam (Sara) Seashole of Cross, LaClaire (Charlie) Laffitte of Hampton, Angela W. Williams of Mt. Pleasant, and from Estill, Van (Christine) Peeples II, Lillian (Algie) Solomons, and Herbert Peeples.

The family is grateful to the caring staff of Pruitt Nursing Home in Moncks Corner, and especially to cousin Todd Williams for his compassion and regular visits during Steve's time there.

A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon, March 22, 2026 at Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill, South Carolina. Interment will follow directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner, SC.
