Stephen Dickinson Obituary

Stephen R. Dickinson MT. PLEASANT - Steve Dickinson, age 68, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died on February 28 in Mt Pleasant. Mr. Dickinson was born June 9th, 1942, in Battle Creek Michigan the son of Andy and Shirley Dickinson. His family relocated to California shortly afterwards and Steve spent the majority of his youth in Southern California. Steve served as Class President of Santa Fe Springs High School and was elected by the City Council to represent the City in their successful bid to gain "All American City" status. Mr. Dickinson retired as President of Carriage Industries in 1994 and relocated from Georgia to the Isle of Palms, SC. Steve remained active as a board member with the Clarence E. Harris Foundation, which generously supports such causes as Habitat for Humanity, various school and museum initiatives, and organizations dedicated to supporting children with disabilities in the Georgia/TN area. He supported many local charities and felt a strong duty to always "give back". Steve was also an auxiliary member of the VFW Post #3137 where he enjoyed debating politics and laughing with his many friends. His warmth, spirit of generosity, and distinctive individuality will be sorely missed. He is survived by two sons, Steve Dickinson and wife Deborah; Andy Dickinson and wife Tiffaney; daughter, Peggy (PJ) Dickinson and nine grandkids and one great-grandson. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Jones and husband Carl of Denver, Colorado. A gathering and Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW Post #3137 at a later date.
