Stella Allen Obituary

Stella Jane Hardy, born on January 1, 1935, in Tyrone Pennsylvania, passed away on August 30, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She was 90 years of age. Stella was the beloved daughter of Leonard and Mary Jane Hardy, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger Allen and sisters Sandra Shaner and Kathy Egley. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Stephen Lynn Hardy, cherished granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Hardy and brothers, Terry L. Hardy and Colonel Leonard D. Hardy Jr., USA, Retired. Stella faced life with courage, resilience and a quiet strength, struggling to raise her son as a single mother on secretarial wages in Pittsburgh, PA. She also struggled in her final years with Alzheimer's Disease. Stella, or Jane as her siblings called her, was a fun-loving woman who was quite the dancer in her day, with a passion for music and singing. She was a member of The Clover Belles dance group and regularly performed at senior living homes and the like. Stella adored dogs, with Keeshonds being her favorite. She knew her way around the kitchen, excelling at baking her famous Sand Tart cookies, which she diligently passed out to family at Christmas. As an avid collector of antique furniture and glassware, she acquired an impressive collection throughout years of scouring antique shops. Her wry sense of humor was ever present, never failing to surprise with an unexpected quip and a twinkle in her eye. Of her many qualities, her love and commitment to family was her finest. Being the proverbial "Town Cryer", she was in regular contact, unfailingly updating everyone on the latest family happenings. She loved her son, husband and siblings dearly, with special affection for her niece, Kirsten. Never was there a more devoted grandmother, taking great pleasure in doting on her beloved granddaughter, Stephanie. Now that God has taken her home, Stella Jane will be truly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
